Maybe it's because my nephew blessed his baby over the weekend (which makes me a great-aunt for crying out loud) or maybe it's because it's my birthday, but all of a sudden I feel like I'm not as young as I thought I was. I guess it's time to grow out the gray hair (and believe me it's there in abundance), dye it blue, learn to knit, and watch The Price is Right and Lawrence Welk re-runs. Oh, and pass the Polident, please.

Do I look like this?
Maybe it's because my nephew blessed his baby over the weekend (which makes me a great-aunt for crying out loud) or maybe it's because it's my birthday, but all of a sudden I feel like I'm not as young as I thought I was. I guess it's time to grow out the gray hair (and believe me it's there in abundance), dye it blue, learn to knit, and watch The Price is Right and Lawrence Welk re-runs. Hooray for Freedom
In the video, Caitlyn is on the far left #27.
Some of you may know that Caitlyn plays on a competition soccer team. (The name of her league is USA [Utah Soccer Association] and the name of her team is Freedom. It's kind of a cute play on words I think.) Anyway, the team entered the Dixie Invitational in St. George. It's an annual thing played over Thanksgiving weekend. So Mike drove Caitlyn (and Courtney just for fun) to St. George for this tournament. Freedom shut-out every team they played and won the tournament. Caitlyn even made one of the goals!
The girls had a great time and even swam in an outdoor swimming pool at the motel. (Who would have guessed at the end of November?!)

It must be in the genes....
On Courtney's birthday, I made her cake and left it on the counter to cool. Mike, Courtney and I left to go shopping and left Caitlyn in charge of the little girls. Less than a minute before we arrived back home, Caitlyn called me crying hard, apologizing and speaking in hysterics -- it was hard to understand what she was saying. Apparently Carlee had just barely helped herself to the cake, eating quite a bit off the top of one of the layers. Caitlyn, of course, was mortified. I told Caitlyn about how when I was a little girl my brother Michael had eaten a hole into the side of one of my birthday cakes, and how he still does today just to bug me.In the end it worked out fine. It was a German Chocolate Cake, so we put the cratered layer on the bottom and filled it with frosting. Yum! We may have to do that again sometime on purpose!

Now she's really done it...
Carlee has been know to cut her hair in the past, but the infractions were minor, and really, I think I was the only one who knew since I do her hair. This time she found a pair of scissors in Courtney's room and REALLY whacked her hair off. I was so SICK when I saw all the hair in the garbage can. I sobbed and sobbed, not realizing Carlee was watching me. Now she tells me every day, "My hair is getting bigger." It's hard to see in the picture, but she gave herself a mullet... there is a lot of hair chopped just below her ear. I never took official pictures after the event, but you get the idea. She's so cute, yet SO naughty!
